Valleys win on first innings

VALLEYS resumed play on Saturday at one down for 21, chasing Wests' first innings of 198 from the previous weekend.

Valleys' batsman Connor Ryan went a long way to helping his team's chase of first innings points, compiling 84 runs before Brandon Sauer clean-bowled him. Sauer backed this up bowling Andrew Leppien for six shortly after to give Wests a sniff of the points.

But this was short-lived as Glyn Brook made a well-compiled 34 runs as Valleys continued the chase.

Ashley Lawless kept the scoreboard rolling with 25 and Matt Brady continued the pain for Wests with a quickfire 27, including three sixes with Wests' pain concluding with Valleys finishing their innings at seven for 232.

Wests started their second innings and batted much better to finish with 4 for 179 at stumps, thanks in large part to 44 from Morrison, 40 from Tim Lawley and 37 from Brandon Sauer. Ashley Lawless took all four wickets for 43 off 11 overs.

Valleys won on the first innings.
