Wests brilliant with bat, ball
IT was a brief spell for Valleys and Wests in an unusual game at Albert Park on Saturday.
After a surprisingly easy bowling performance which saw Valleys dismissed for a meagre 10 for 54, Wests were able to claim a huge win which cost them just one wicket.
After sending every Valleys' batsmen on their way before any could chalk up double figures, the game was sealed quickly for Wests by opening batsman Josh Heck (37) and B. Morgan (7).
The highest-scoring Valleys batsman was Ben Santowski with nine before being bowled by Rowan Bartley.
Bartly and Grant Weller did most of the damage for Wests, taking three wickets a piece.
Wests captain Brett Long said that while he'd managed to dismiss a team for a score in the 30s some years ago, Saturday's dream match brought the side all the luck they could ever ask for.
"Everything was happening for us," Long said.
They may have given Valleys the slip but Long tipped the side will be back in form this weekend.
"They'll be back for sure," he said.
"This will put fire in their belly."
